A Georgian era witch’s heart brooch with natural demantoid garnets and old Peruzzi cut diamonds. Witch’s hearts have long symbolized being bewitched with love and was often given as love tokens. This particular piece is quite rare in its combination of demantoids garnets and diamonds. All diamonds are “Peruzzi” cuts, meaning they have broad facets, large culets, and almost squarish shaped tables. Peruzzi cut stones first entered the gemstone world in the 1700s as one of the earliest forms of brilliant-cut diamonds. There are a total of approximately 0.92 carats in diamonds, all G/H in color and SI in clarity, overall.
The demantoid garnets in this piece display a vivid green color and are cut almost like stars! Some stones demonstrate the classic horsetail inclusions that are seen in demantoids. There are a total of approximately 0.72 carats in these rare green gems.
An absolute treasure with lovely sentimentality and in amazing condition!
