A beautiful pair of 14K gold shakudo earrings of a bird, possibly a pheasant, perched on a cherry blossom tree. The shakudo technique involves inlaying gold, silver, and copper into a darkened copper base. The details of the birds and the blossoms in gold, silver, and pink are so striking against the blackened background.
The shakudo components were originally in a pair of cufflinks but we re-imagined them as a pair of simple earrings that can be worn everyday! The discs are surrounded by a 14K gold bezel and backing, and 14K gold ear hooks were added.
Metal: 14K Gold and Mix-Metal Shakudo
Weight: 10.5 grams
Disc Measurement: 17.5 mm diameter each
Condition: In very good condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and new shepherd’s ear wires.
