A very unusual Victorian era tower fob or charm originating from France and made in 18K gold. The tower is made in yellow gold with pink and green gold accents. In the front of the charm is a coin with the profile of a gentleman, with the name “MANUEL DEPUTE” written around it. On each side of the charm is the letter “M” stamped towards the bottom. An onyx plaque was added to the bottom, possibly a later replacement.
The charm has a hidden opening - the side of the tower with the coin opens from the top and can be snapped shut. The top of the bail is stamped with the French eagle hallmark for 18K gold, “750” for 18K gold purity, and also marked “HY,” possibly for a makers mark.
