A rare and unusual Victorian era brooch showcasing real “scarabs” or beetles. During the Victorian era, some things in nature were believed to display similar characteristics to gemstones, such as bright colors and interesting textures.
These little beetles display a gorgeous iridescent green color with hints of yellow, blue, and brown. And they still have great luster and shine. There are 6 beetles set in 14K yellow gold, with a small pearl set in the center. Three leaves extend out from the pearl. Worn with a C clasp typically found in antique pieces. A fabulous and interesting piece to wear on your jacket lapel, or even converted as a statement pendant.
