Almost 150 years old is this 15K yellow gold Victorian era mourning ring with natural seed pearls arranged in the shape of a cross. The shoulders of the ring read “IN MEM-ORY OF”. Full English hallmarks for the Birmingham assay office, with date marks for 1872, and engraved “Johnson died June 9 1873.” Behind the cross, there may have been a compartment for hair but it is now empty.
